Mercy

Mercy

Role: Support
Difficulty: Easy

Her speed and healing abilities make her an incredibly useful, and difficult to hit, facet of any Overwatch team.

Abilities
Caduceus Staff: Mercy’s staff has two abilities, both of which center around her connecting a beam to an ally. The first restores her teammate's health, and the second improves their damage output. Only one teammate can be targeted at a time in this mode.
Caduceus Blaster: A low powered sidearm for when you come face to face with an opponent. Like Indiana Jones and his side arm, it’s best reserved for emergencies, or when you have the flu.
Guardian Angel: Mercy quickly moves towards a targeted ally, covering ground fast and allowing her to provide support in a pinch.
Angelic Descent: Mercy can slow her descent, making targeting easier.
Resurrect: Mercy can bring a recently eliminated ally back to life.

Tactics
As Mercy, you should either be healing teammates or boosting damage with your Caduceus Staff for the majority of your time on the battlefield. It's best to stick to a single teammate, during a fight, continually healing and boosting their damage, using your flight and maneuverability to avoid becoming a target. One of the best pairings for playing an assault mission is providing a damage boost is Pharah. You can easily stick to her as she flies and her improved rockets will easily annihilate members of the opposing team. When playing defense, linking yourself to Bastion or Torbjörn to improve damage output and heal when needed is your best bet, as both have incredible DPS.
Guardian Angel is incredibly useful when you spawn as Mercy, as you can be left far away from teammates. Using this ability is great for reaching an ally and the action. This is important, as staying near your teammates is a necessity for survival. You do have a sidearm to defend yourself when you encounter an enemy on your own, but it should almost never be used, as it as incredibly low DPS. Instead, use Guardian Angel to quickly move to the closest ally and boost their damage output or heal them.
Mercy is in possession of one of the most potent ultimates in the game, Resurrect. This ultimate can revive multiple teammates that have recently fallen in battle. This is incredibly useful in the thick of a fight, and can literally turn the tide of battle in an instant. Reserve this for when you absolutely need it.

Strong Against
Junkrat: Junkrat can cause massive damage if Mercy is caught by his frag-lobbing but if she stays in the air, or supports an ally from behind, she can easily stay safe while her teammates take him down.
Mei: Since Mercy rarely finds herself coming into close range with the enemy, Mei will rarely be a problem. Simply bolstering the attack output of a teammate near her can easily lead to an untimely end for Mei.

Weak Against
Widomaker: Mercy’s low health, paired with Widowmakers long range capabilities maker a potentially devastating threat, as a well-placed headshot can easily lead to a quick death. When the opposing team has a Widowmaker with her sights trained on you, keep your speed up, and move sporadically.
Soldier 76: His Pulse Rifle and Helix rockets can easily lead to a quick elimination, and when coming to blows with a 76, your best bet is to take to the skies or take cover. His weapons have enough range to take you down from afar, but if you are moving unpredictably, he likely won’t be able to stay on target enough to take you out.

Pro-Tip
Giving Pharah a damage boost and staying close can serve to save you from close-range damage, as well as lead to utter domination from the air (and slightly above the ground). Stick with her to control the skies and dominated the field.

Biography
Real Name: Angela Ziegler
Age: 37
Occupation: Field Medic, First Responder
Base of Operations: Zürich, Switzerland
Affiliation: Overwatch (formerly)

Story

A guardian angel to those who come under her care, Dr. Angela Ziegler is a peerless healer, a brilliant scientist, and a staunch advocate for peace.

Ziegler rose to become the head of surgery at a prominent Swiss hospital before pioneering a breakthrough in the field of applied nanobiology that radically improved the treatment of life-threatening illnesses and injuries. It was this expertise that attracted the attention of Overwatch.

Because her parents had been taken by war, Ziegler was opposed to the organization's militaristic approach to keeping global peace. Ultimately, she recognized that Overwatch offered her the opportunity to save lives on a much larger scale. As Overwatch's head of medical research, Angela sought to leverage her work for healing in frontline crises. The result was the Valkyrie swift-response suit, which Ziegler herself piloted on many Overwatch missions.

Despite her contributions to Overwatch, she was often at odds with her superiors and the organization's overarching aims. When Overwatch dissolved, Ziegler dedicated herself to helping those affected by war.
