3D Blu-Ray Playback Delayed on PS3

3D Blu-Ray Playback Delayed on PS3

None

Sony has been busy making announcements at this year’s IFA in Berlin. Yesterday we received the good news concerning their new Qriocity video and music on demand service. However, they also made a firmware related announcement that is bound to disappoint some PS3 owners.

If you’ve already picked up an expensive 3D television with a few sets of glasses, you may want to stop holding your breath for stereoscopic 3D Blu-ray playback on the PS3, as it is going to take longer than expected. Sony announced that the firmware update meant to enable the playback of stereoscopic 3D Blu-rays on the PS3 has been pushed back to October. No official date in October was given, however, with films like Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland and Michael Jackson’s This Is It coming out shortly, you likely won’t have to wait too long. Also, Sony confirmed that Spider-Man 3, Avatar, and Green Hornet will be coming out on the 3D Blu-ray format as well.
