3DS Games May Cost More?

None

As with most of those fortunate enough to get their hands on a 3DS at this year’s E3, analyst Michael Pachter is fairly certain of the handheld’s inevitable success. He believes so fully in the experience he had that he claimed in an interview with CVG “I think that they can sell out the first 10 million at any price below $300, and think that the experience is well worth a price that high.”

However, when the 3DS launches, the price of the system may not be the only thing pricier than that of the original DS. If Pachter’s predictions are anything to go by, software for the system may cost more as well. Pachter states “From a software perspective, we believe Nintendo will be able to increase DS software prices, from a blended average of around $25 today to over $29 next year.” While that may not seem like a large jump, the prices of more notable releases may be accounting for a large portion of the difference. Unfortunately, we’ll just have to continue waiting patiently for official details from Nintendo to know for sure.
