GTA5 Rumored for PS4 and Xbox One, PC Most Likely for 2014

In a brief interview with GamingBolt , Wedbush Securities’ analyst Michael Pachter claimed that ports for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 of Rockstar Games’ record-smashing title Grand Theft Auto 5 may be on the horizon, with a PC port coming sooner than a port to the Xbox One or the PlayStation 4.

Pachter believes that porting Grand Theft Auto 5 to PC will be an easy process, but he doubts that a current-gen console port will release as quickly. He doubts that the console ports would release this year, as he believes that the process may take up to a year or more.

Well, the PC version, you know, I think is a very easy port, ” Pachter explained. “ So I am certain that’s coming out, and I would bet anything that it comes out this year. The Xbox One and PS4 versions, not so fast, because to port from 360 to One is probably very hard. If you look at Titanfall, for example, it went the other way.

So, I don’t even know if it’s possible, or feasible, ” he continued. “ I think they might need to redo the code, which might take them a long time, a year or more, and that’s if they spend their time and attention on that, and from everything I can tell, Rockstar’s busy working on GTA Online . So I would say PC version this year, most likely. Xbox One and PS4, this year? Probably not.

Pachter continued on to add that Grand Theft Auto 5 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will still be a potential purchase for those who have yet to buy into the new current-gen consoles, even if they may have already bought the game on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Yes, and also in fairness, I think the current group of Xbox One and PS4 owners, anyone in that group who wanted GTA V already bought it, I mean, those are the hardcore first mover rich guys, ” Pachter added. “ So it’s the next 30 million who may not have bought it, so it might be a compelling title in a year. I don’t think they leave a lot of money on the table, especially because it launched so late in the last console cycle that they likely already got through to those guys.

Rockstar Games announced back in early April that it’ll be introducing an update that will add the ability for you to build your own Capture Jobs with the GTA Online Creator Tool, which has now since been implemented. With this update, you’ll be able to create your own Jobs in four different Capture Job variants–Contend, GTA, Hold and Raid–and then publish them for all to play via the Rockstar Games Social Club if you so desire.

Pachter also reported back when Sony’s PlayStation Now service was revealed in January that GameStop’s shares won’t be hampered too much by the announcement. Be sure to check out our Matt Walker’s PlayStation 3 review of Grand Theft Auto 5 .
