3DS Terms Trademarked

3DS Terms Trademarked

None

In a world where terms need to be unique in order to stand out during an internet search, Nintendo has come up with some fairly distinctive terms, Wii and DS just to name a couple. As such, it seemed odd that they would simply name the player data exchanging feature on the 3DS something as bland as tag mode.

According to Siliconera, this may soon be changing. They’ve uncovered several trademarks from Nintendo which appear to be related to the 3DS’s currently blandly named tag mode. CrossPass, CrossPass Mode, CrossPass Network, and CrossPass Connection would all seem to imply that the tag mode moniker is on its way out in favor of calling the feature CrossPass. The company also registered trademarks for 3D Paddleball, 3D Challenge, 3D Hopper, and Target Shooting. Perhaps these are titles of upcoming 3DSWare, given that Target Shooting was a demo shown off at E3 that seemed like it would be a decent, small digital download title.
