7 Million Dropbox Accounts Hacked

7 Million Dropbox Accounts Hacked

If you use Dropbox, you might want to change your password. Approximately 7 million Dropbox accounts were compromised by obtaining user information from third party services.

“Dropbox has not been hacked,” the company said in a prepared statement issued to press. “These usernames and passwords were unfortunately stolen from other services and used in attempts to log in to Dropbox accounts. We’d previously detected these attacks and the vast majority of the passwords posted have been expired for some time now. All other remaining passwords have been expired as well.”

This news came to light when hackers began posting links to Pastebin dumbs containing e-mail addresses and passwords of the compromised computers. If your Dropbox account shares a password with other services, you likely should change those passwords as well.
