RIFT Players Compromised?

RIFT Players Compromised?

None

Trion Worlds customers have received a very depressing email this holiday season.

Apparently, encrypted passwords, dates of birth, email addresses, billing addresses, and the first and last four digits and expiration dates of customer credit cards for all Trion customers may have been compromised.

That being said, the email did reassure customers: “There is no evidence, and we have no reason to believe, that full credit card information was accessed or compromised in any way. We have already taken further action to strengthen our systems, even as we, with external security experts, continue to research the extent of the unauthorized access.”

In addition, it makes it clear that game time in RIFT, Trion Worlds’ MMO, will not be interrupted. However, all players will be required to perform a mandatory password change. As a result, players will receive three days of complimentary game time, which isn’t a bad deal.
