Atelier Ayesha And Disgaea 5 Heading West

Atelier Ayesha And Disgaea 5 Heading West

None

With the release of Atelier Meruru, the Arland series of Atelier games has come to a close in both East and West. But the Japanese already have a new alchemical journey on their hands, Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Twilight Land (as one localization of the title goes) having hit store shelves in the land of the Rising Sun this past Thursday, June 26.

And now it’s coming to West. Given that the Atelier series, since back on the PlayStation 2, has been a fairly successful, if niche, RPG series in the United States, that’s not wholly surprising. Still, given past oversights by Japanese publishers, such as the decisions by Nintendo of America not to localize Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story, or Pandora’s Tower, it’s always worth at least a quick sigh of release to see confirmation of a JRPG coming to the States, as was given at Anime Expo in Los Angeles over the weekend.

Which is why it’s also heartening to hear from Disgaea producer Souhei Niikawa regarding Disgaea 5. He says it’s being planned, but hasn’t delved into additional details. Simply knowing it will exist, though, is enough to get my leveling muscles twitching.
