The Atelier series has long been one of my favorites. They’re fluffy and lighthearted without going too hard into anime cliches (most of the time, at least), providing a respite from the grimdark stories that populate the AAA game industry.
It’s become an annual tradition for an Atelier game to release, and Koei Tecmo intends to continue that pattern with the North American release of Atelier Firis: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Journey. The follow-up to last year’s Atelier Sophie is another whimsical RPG centered around a young girl learning how to create items with the power of alchemy. It features returning characters from the previous game as well a large world to explore and new gameplay systems.
Atelier Firis is the first title in the series to receive a simultaneous release on multiple platforms in North America. You’ll be able to pick the game up on PlayStation 4, Vita, or Steam when it releases on March 7, 2017.
