Batman Pre-Order Costumes Discover Capitalism

None

Have you seen the pre-order costumes for Batman: Arkham City? It’s an eclectic selection, ranging from Earth One Batman to Frank Miller’s aging and overweight The Dark Knight Returns version. The thing is, with five pre-order costumes (and Robin), all available only when the game is purchased either from specific retailers or in the Collector’s Edition package, gamers are likely to feel left out. Especially those who want The Dark Knight Returns Batman. That’s a Collector’s Edition exclusive. Heck, some of these costumes are territory locked. What’s a gamer to do?

Here’s the answer: purchase them online.

Rocksteady has confirmed that all bonus costumes will be available to players as paid DLC down the line. It’s becoming an increasingly common practice, most recently seen in the Mortal Kombat reboot, to have retailer-exclusive day-one bonuses that become paid DLC down the line. It’s hard to say whether it would be more frustrating to have the content forever locked away or to have things as they are now, demanding extra money for what you really want because your retail options were maybe a bit more limited than most.
