Shadowrun developer Harebrained Schemes is bringing back a classic. A Kickstarter has begun to bring Battletech back, and it’s already doing quite well. Despite only having launched yesterday, the project not only passed its $250,000 goal, but raised over $766,000, enough to fund all of the Stage 1 stretch goals and bring combined arms, expanded mission objectives, and expanded environments to the game.
Which is only to be expected when the developer is a trusted name on Kickstarter and the game is promising a skirmish mode. If $1,000,000 is raised, a single player campaign will be funded. Additional goals include $1,850,000 for an expanded mercenary mode and $2,500,000 for player versus player multiplayer.
The Battletech Kickstarter will end on November 3. The minimum contribution you can make to get a copy of the Windows, Mac, and Linux game is $25. $50 gets you access to the beta as well.
