Another day, another indie game successfully funded by Kickstarter . Shantae: Half-Genie Hero , the next in the line of cult-classic Shantae platformers, is now officially funded. The development team originally asked for $400,000 dollars and nearly made twice as much, bringing in $776,084 altogether. It originally met its goal near the end of September and made most of its extra money in the final funding push before the Kickstarter closed. Combining these Kickstarter funds with a couple of extra donations made by Paypal brings developer WayForward up to $811,962 toward the development of this new Shantae game.
The Shantae Kickstarter didn’t meet many of its stretch goals. It did manage to fund a mode where you get to play as Risky, Shantae’s nemesis, two bonus chapters, and some extra costumes. The game is schedule for release in 2014 for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Vita, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, and PC.
