Bethesda “Close” On PS3 Skyrim Content

Bethesda “Close” On PS3 Skyrim Content

It was one of those “heart sinking into your stomach” moments. The first expansion for Skyrim, Dawnguard, hit the Xbox 360 and the PC with nary a PlayStation 3 version in sight. The same followed with Hearthfire and, as of yet, there has been no word on a version of Dragonborn for Sony’s console. It appears that this might be about to change, though.

After late-game issues with lag and freezing cropped up on the PlayStation 3, ostensibly related to how Skyrim handles its world state, it might not have been a tremendous surprise when the RPG’s developer came out and said that there were technical issues preventing them from bringing the new content to the PS3. It was doubly disappointing when they admitted that it may never happen.

It seems they’ve been hard at work on the issue, though. A Twitter post from the studio’s account went out last night, indicating that they’re “close on new Skyrim content for PS3 and PC.”

Don’t rejoice just yet, Sony gamers, but I think cautious optimism is certainly justified.
