Beware the Scam of Minecraft Pocket Edition 2

Beware the Scam of Minecraft Pocket Edition 2

So here’s something kind of funny. Well, I guess it’s kind of sad, but mostly it’s funny. There’s a new game taking over the iTunes app store, ranking as the number 5 most downloaded paid game at the time of writing this article. The name of the game? “ Minecraft Pocket Edition 2.” The supposed developer? “Scott Caythorn,” which sounds suspiciously similar to Scott Cawthon, the creator of the Five Nights at Freddy’s games. If you’re a gamer you’d probably put two and two together and suspect some fishy business, especially because we haven’t heard anything in the news from Microsoft or Mojang about a new Minecraft mobile game. Unfortunately for many children and their benevolent parents, $10 was spent on a new Minecraft game that actually turned out to be the worst Mortal Kombat anyone has ever played.

Upon starting up the game, you’ll see the developer’s real name: Viktor Todorov. His game sucks. It’s not even a Minecraft rip-off, which would have made at least a little sense. Instead it’s a top-down swiping game featuring Scorpion from Mortal Kombat fending off waves of zombies. Why, Todorov? It’s been a busy day for Mojang, which has been contacted by pretty much every gaming website for comment. It’s been sending out this response to everyone: “…when a product attempts to dupe our community or exploit their enthusiasm for the game, it’s our responsibility to step in.” Watch your back, Todorov. Or should I say, Todo-rip-ov? Right? Guys?
