Minecraft Convention Gets A Date And Location

Minecraft Convention Gets A Date And Location

None

Back in May, the Minecraft community was working itself into a froth over the possibility of a Minecraft convention this year. There was some confusion about the date and location, but all of that has been settled.

The event will be held at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas and take place on November 18th-19th. Mojang, the developer behind the game, will also be using the event to launch the full release of Minecraft, which has been in perpetual alpha/beta since it hit the net in 2009.

“For me, MineCon is about celebrating the full release of Minecraft,” said Minecrfat creator Notch. “I’m really looking forward to getting up on stage and pushing the button to upload the final build.”

But it’s important to note that this doesn’t mean Minecraft’s development is wrapping up. Notch adds, “We’ll just go back home and keep working on Minecraft directly after MineCon, but it does represent a huge milestone where the game finally leaves beta, something we’d never been able to do without our fans, so it feels natural to celebrate it with them.”

So, for those of you who are obsessed with Minecraft, draw a giant red circle around November 18th-19th on your calendars; you’re going to be very busy. Mojang will be launching the registration site next week, so keep your ear to the ground. Tickets will probably be snatched up fast.
