BioWare Ponders Mass Effect Spin-Offs

BioWare Ponders Mass Effect Spin-Offs

The credo of Mass Effect has always been choice . Shepard is supposed to be the player’s avatar, a cipher through which one views and influences the world. It is Shepard’s companions, friends, and foes, though, who leave the strongest impression on the player. It is these characters who BioWare has expressed an interest in featuring.

Specific favorites include Garrus, of course, but the team is also thinking about Aria, even the Illusive Man or Kai Leng. Javik even bears mention, despite seeming to be a particular longshot: he was only really featured in DLC.

The question isn’t so much about which character BioWare would focus further Mass Effect adventures on, though, or even when they would set them. It’s more a matter of what sort of game they might make with any or all of these major players, since they already have set, determined personalities. Perhaps that’s what Mac Walters means when he says, “I think most of them could have successful spin-offs of their own in some fashion.” It doesn’t have to be the traditional Mass Effect experience.
