Mass Effect 3 Not Saving Face

Mass Effect 3 Not Saving Face

None

For those who picked up Mass Effect 3 at midnight launches across the country, who pre-loaded it onto their PCs in anticipation of closing out Shepard’s epic space-opera, perhaps the biggest appeal was knowing that they could import their character, the Shepard they’d crafted back in Mass Effect 1, into this latest title, to see their decisions play out.

It’s a problem, then, that the import function is experiencing technical issues. Specifically, it is having a trouble importing faces. The decisions are intact, but the players are finding that their Shepard’s face is defaulting to the standard “custom” model. According to BioWare, this is likely an issue with how faces were detected by Mass Effect 2, when imported from Mass Effect 1, though the issue affects the PS3 version as well, for which ME1 was never released. They are currently at work on the issue, aiming for a fix, but it’s surprising that an issue this widespread and early in the game would be missed during QA.
