Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 Is Now Its Own IP

Gearbox Software has confirmed that Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 has not been cancelled, but it has been turned into a new IP instead of continuing the Brothers in Arms franchise.

During the studio’s PAX Prime 2012 panel, the Borderlands developer revealed that Furious 4 has evolved far enough that a decision was made to drop the Brothers in Arms title and instead developer it as a new property.

President Randy Pitchford explained that dropping the Brothers in Arms name has resulted in giving the development team a newfound freedom to test out new features and ideas.

Fans of the Brothers in Arms series will, however, be exposed to hints and tributes during gameplay such as the title’s origins. Other than that, though, Gearbox stressed it’s now an entirely separate project.

No further details were revealed by Gearbox, but as for the future of the Brothers in Arms franchise, the firm will talk about where the IP is going during its community day on September 15 th .
