Bully is an open-world video game that launched in 2006 for the PS2. It came to Wii, Xbox 360, and PC two years later, and in 2016 it arrived on Android and iOS. Bully was developed and published by Rockstar, famous for the Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption franchises. Despite the enduring popularity of these series, Bully is a standalone game.
Bully Premise
Bully follows a juvenile delinquent who arrives at Bullworth Academy, a fictional boarding school in New England. It sees protagonist Jimmy Hopkins navigating the school environment and increasing his reputation with various cliques. The end goal for Jimmy is a more peaceful school setting, free of bullying. Like GTA, Bully is an open-world game played from a third-person perspective. Jimmy has various melee attacks at his disposal, as well as setting-appropriate weapons like slingshots, stink bombs, and baseball bats. Jimmy can also cause trouble at school, leading the academy’s authority figures to pursue him. This is similar to the Wanted level in the Grand Theft Auto games.
Bully Main Characters
As you navigate the complex social web of Bullworth Academy, you will interact with a lot of other characters. This includes fellow students, faculty members, and even townsfolk in the surrounding city of Bullworth. During the course of your quest to return order to the campus, here are some of the most important people you’ll have to contend with.
- James “Jimmy” Hopkins: The main character of Bully is enrolled against his will at Bullworth Academy. Due to a long history of bad behavior, this school is his last chance to avoid juvenile detention. Jimmy is a generally disorderly individual, wearing his school uniform rumpled and his shirt untucked. Despite his rough nature, however, he’s a decent boy at heart.
- Gary Smith: Gary is the main antagonist of Bully. While he begins the game by befriending Jimmy, his paranoia eventually leads him to betray his classmate. From then on, he conspires behind the scenes to take Jimmy down and take over the school.
- Pete Kowalski: Pete is Jimmy’s closest friend throughout the events of Bully, and the only ally he has left after Gary betrays them both. Pete assists Jimmy throughout his mission and acts as the protagonist’s voice of reason during his rise to power.
- Zoe Taylor: This Bullworth Academy student develops a close relationship to Jimmy over the course of the game. While the protagonist catches the eye of many female characters over the course of the game, Zoe is the one he grows closest with.
- Dr. Crabblesnitch: The principle of Bullworth Academy is a strict and stern authority figure, though he is unfortunately blind to some of the worst events that occur on-campus. Despite his abrasive personality, however, Crabblesnitch does have a strong moral compass.
Bully Cheat Codes for PS2
Bully has a series of cheat codes that you can input to give yourself a leg up against the rest of the student body at Bullworth Academy. In order to use these codes, you need to have a second controller plugged into the console. You can then use this controller to execute the codes listed below.
- Unlock all clothing: L1, L1, R1, L1, L1, L1, R1, R1.
- Unlock all gym grapple moves: Hold L1, then press up, left, down, down, triangle, square, X, X.
- Unlock all hobo fighting moves: Hold L1, then press up, left, down, right, triangle, square, X, circle.
- Full health: Hold L1 and press R2 three times.
- Unlock all weapons: Hold L1 and press up four times.
- Infinite Ammo: Hold L1 and press up, down, up, down. You can input this code again to turn it off.
- Gain $100: Hold L1 and press triangle, square, circle, and X.
- Refill ammo to maximum: Hold L1 and press up twice.
Bully Cheat Codes for Xbox 360
While Bully was originally released exclusively for PlayStation 2, it only took a few years for the game to make its way onto other consoles. When it came out on Xbox 360, some of the cheat codes came over to the new machine as well. Like on the PS2, in order to input these codes on your Xbox, you’ll need to plug in a second controller and use that one to unlock the goods. Here are the codes you can use on your Xbox 360.
- Unlock all gym grapple moves: Hold LB and press up, left, down, down, Y, X, A, A.

Bully Cheat Codes FAQ
Are there cheat codes for Bully on PC? Unfortunately, the cheat codes listed above are exclusive to the Xbox and PlayStation consoles. These cheats will not work on the PC or Nintendo Wii versions of the game, nor are they available for Bully: Anniversary Edition, which was released for iOS and Android in 2016. If you’re playing the game on one of these systems, you’ll have to play it the old fashioned way.
Do cheats disable achievements in Bully? Some video games restrict progress if you use cheat codes in an effort to establish them as a diversion with no impact on the main game. For instance, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag does not allow players to save if they are using the cheats unlocked through completing Abstergo challenges. Fortunately, Bully has no such compunctions, and using cheats in the game will not prevent you from unlocking achievements or progressing through the game.
How do you get free soda in Bully? Soda can be purchased throughout the city for $1 a can, and will boost your health if you drink it. If you buy 100 cans, all subsequent soda purchases will be free, and buying a total of 500 cans will earn you a special soda hat. If you don’t have the money to afford a can of soda, you can have Jimmy kick a soda machine, which might dispense a free can for you regardless.
