Yu-Gi-Oh! GX: Duel Academy is a 2006 card battle game released by Konami for the Gameboy Advance. Based on the successful spin-off series Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, the game closely follows the anime’s storyline. With over 1200 cards, there is no shortage of fun or novelty in this first release of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX games. In the game, the player will battle familiar foes from the series using pure strategy and skill. Being the first game in the series, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX: Duel Academy has set a precedent for future Yu-Gi-Oh! GX games. Yu-Gi-Oh! GX: Duel Academy Premise
Players find themselves at the prestigious Duel Academy as a student whose primary goal is to become the King of Games. At first, the player is at the bottom of the ranks in the Slifer Red Room with dropouts and low-ranked students. Dueling higher-ranked students and testing is the only way to progress to the upper echelons of the Duel Academy. Winning duels not only means going through the ranks, however. Winning duels rewards the player with “duelist points” or “DP”, which unlock booster packs to improve their deck.
