Bungie President Steps Down After 15 Years

Bungie President Steps Down After 15 Years

Harold Ryan has stepped down as president of Bungie. Ryan joined the Bungie team back in 2000 and the exact reasons for his departure remain unclear, although it seems that things have ended on good terms. Destiny has faced some new challenges lately with fans becoming increasingly disappointed in the lack of content for a game that was supposed to crank out a steady stream of new experiences for a decade. The recent announcement that “Destiny 2” has been pushed back didn’t help either, and it’s Ryan’s departure in the midst of this trying time for Bungie that makes me think he may have been asked to step down, but that’s purely speculative.

Bungie COO Pete Parsons is stepping up as president and CEO, and made the following statement: “I want to personally thank Harold for his friendship, passion, hard work, and dedication in helping make Bungie the great company it is today. As a team, we celebrated many victories and weathered many storms.” Parsons went on to promise fans that Bungie’s best work has yet to be seen and that Destiny is their top priority. With new leadership, it’ll be interesting to see how Bungie makes up for its lack of DLC and how it engages with the community for the rest of the year.
