Designer Says Destiny Not Coming to PC Right Now

While Destiny will be Bugnie’s first outing on both the Xbox and PlayStation consoles simultaneously (after leaving the safety of the Microsoft mothership), they do have experience porting their titles to the PC in the past. Unfortunately, no such love will be given to Destiny at launch.

Lars Bakken is design lead on the project, and was recently pressed on why Destiny would not hit the desktop computer right away. Bakken ambiguously suggested that, while it might be a possibility in the future, porting Destiny to the PC (while also juggling the console releases) isn’t something they want on their plate right now. “The truth is it’s not that simple. I wish it was that simple. It’s pretty complicated. That doesn’t mean it can’t happen in the future, it just means it won’t happen right now.” he said.

COO Pete Parsons was recently asked the same question regarding a PC version, but gave no further insight into the matter. Parsons instead pointed to the multitude of home consoles Destiny will debut on as a selling point, and also assured that those at Bungie are avid PC fans (ruling out the notion of Bungie designers  having a “console superiority” complex). “I think four platforms on day one is a lot, considering we’ve been a one platform team for a very long time. What is also true is that, as you might imagine, we’re all hardcore PC players. We play everything. It doesn’t matter if it’s a phone, PC or console, we play it. And there are 500 people up there. So we care a lot about the PC.” Parsons assures.

If you own a home console, you can pick up Destiny this fall on September 9 th .
