Call of Duty Mobile Studio Shut Down by Activision

Call of Duty Mobile Studio Shut Down by Activision

Some games simply aren’t meant for the mobile world, and Call of Duty might be one of them. Activision has announced that The Blast Furnace, the developer for the Call of Duty: Strike Team mobile game, will be closed by the end of the month. “Having explored a range of options, including a potential sale of the business, and consulted with the staff about the options, we have not been able to find a suitable alternative for the talented team in the timescales set by the consultation exercise and have agreed to close The Blast Furnace,” Activision said.

The closure of the Leeds, England based studio will cause 47 developers to lose their jobs, however, Activision has said that some employees will be moved to other positions within the company. The Blast Furnace also developed mobile versions of Pitfall! and Wipeout .
