Campo Santo Releases Patch for Firewatch on PS4

Campo Santo Releases Patch for Firewatch on PS4

Firewatch is one of the most unique experiences you can have on your PS4 or PC. Though the game is short, its ambience and its unforgettable cast of characters – brought to life with top-notch voice actors – have already made it one of the can’t-miss games of 2016. Unfortunately those of you who downloaded Firewatch on the PS4 were experiencing some crippling performance issues. Unity has never played well with consoles, and Firewatch developer Campo Santo mentioned that it was aware of the PS4 issues, but that a fix might take some time since they’d have to iron it out with Sony and Unity Support.

Campo Santo was quick to acknowledge widespread complaints, and has been very transparent and fast-acting. The first fruits of its vigilance is now available as a patch that fixes many of the game’s issues, chief among them a really inconsistent framerate. The game should run smoothly now, and Campo Santo has also tweaked draw distance and the processing of assets, so you shouldn’t notice any pop-in while playing going forward. Autosaves were also made more sporadic, as their frequency was also contributing to performance hiccups. If you were holding out on buying Firewatch until the performance issues were worked out, it sounds like you’re good to go. Kudos to Campo Santo for caring.
