Firewatch Joins the Ranks of Potential Video Game Movies

Yet another game might make it to the big screen. This time, it isn’t a AAA or mobile affair. Firewatch, Campo Santo’s first game, has been optioned. The developer is working with Good Universe, the company behind Don’t Breathe, Neighbors, Neighbors 2, and Last Vegas , to possibly turn it into a movie.

In case you missed it, Firewatch is set a year after the 1988 Yellowstone fires. You play as Henry, a Shohone National Forest Fire Lookout. The game sees you keeping contact with your superior, Delilah, while also investigating instances in the park. Things get mysterious, of course, as he looks into potentially illegal activities.

It’s okay to be critical of video game movies. It’s only natural, given their track record. Firewatch has a really interesting storyline, though. I think it’s one that would adapt well to a film. Here’s hoping this one actually gets made!
