Career Paths Added with Sims 4: Get to Work

The Sims 4: Get to Work expansion adds three new careers and retail businesses players can run and manage. But what are the careers, and what do their day-to-day routines look like? Today, we examine each career so you’ll know which is best for your Sim. While these are just a few of the many careers to pick from, each offers a unique and exciting job never before seen.

Detective

While working their way up through the ranks, Sims can become detectives after being promoted from Corporal. They are expected to solve cases, arrest suspects, and interrogate them for information. After successfully completing a case, your Sims can be promoted to a senior detective.

Detectives will work Tuesday-Saturday, from 9 am to 6 pm. Their promotion will include a pay raise from $38/hour to $54/hour. You’ll want them to be “Focused” at work to help unlock various other options.

  • Security Guard

Medicine

The medical field has Sims start with small beginnings as a Medical Technician. While the journey is long and contains strange working hours, it’s one of the most rewarding careers. Sims can cure patients, perform surgery, or deliver babies.

The promotions and titles vary wildly; the lowest pay is $200 a day, but as your Sims climb the ranks, they can achieve $850 a day. The highest position in the hospital is the Chief of Hospital Staff, which makes you a partial owner of the hospital. You’ll be in charge of the staff and profits.

  • Medical Technician
  • Paramedic
  • Nurse
  • Intern
  • Resident
  • GP
  • Specialist
  • Surgeon
  • Medical Researcher
  • Chief of Hospital Staff

Scientist

The third and final career is in the scientific community, with Sims starting as test subjects for experiments. This job helps you get introduced to scientists and the community as a whole. As your Sims goes up the ranks, they can become Lab Assistants, Researchers, and Inventors.

The career path only gets stranger as Sims can work in Top Secret experiments or become a mad scientist. This path is unique because once players achieve Mad Scientist, they will eventually turn to a life of crime. This makes the career the only one that will move Sims from the top of one career to another.

  • Field Researcher
  • Science Teacher
