Konami announced that a classic side-scrolling adventure in the Castlevania series is coming to Microsoft’s Xbox LIVE Arcade during the highly successful ‘Summer of Arcade’ campaign starting in July. Castlevania Harmony of Despair features “fan favorite vampire hunters from throughout the series” coming together in the fight against Dracula. Up to six players will be able come together via Xbox LIVE to “explore massive levels inspired by the worlds of Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia via online co-op play.” In addition to cooperative play, a competitive Survival Mode will also be included so that players can take on friends “to and determine the best slayer of evil.” Konami says players will also be able to upload ghost data to servers for all to see your prowess.

Slated for a Summer 2010 release, Castlevania Harmony of Despair has been selected as one of the five titles in Microsoft’s third annual Summer of Arcade program kicking off in July.
