It’s unusual for a major release to go off without a hitch, particularly when that release has an online pass component. With Driver: San Francisco, so many UPlay Passport codes were misprinted that the entire operation was canceled, the online mode opened up to everyone regardless of whether the title was purchased new or used. Batman: Arkham City’s Catwoman DLC code has had a smaller impact, but there are still a half of one percent of purchasers who Warner Bros. says have run into an issue in which the Catwoman DLC code reads as invalid or previously used. Luckily, the publisher readily provides a solution.
It’s frustrating when these systems don’t work the way they should, and it leads to continued questions about the efficacy of the entire online pass paradigm, but as long as the codes are around, it’s good to see companies responding promptly and compassionately to their customers’ issues.
