CDProjekt RED Going Modern?

CDProjekt RED Going Modern?

None

It’s been suspected for a while now that CDProjekt RED is hard at work on The Witcher 3. This assumption was originally spawned by a set of job listings for work on an “RPG in a Dark Fantasy World.” Now, though, a new project with its own positions has opened up on the company’s job site.

“RPG in a Brand New Setting” is looking for artists, animators, programmers and designers of various stripes. Will it be an original property? An as-of-yet unannounced adaptation of an existing property, much as The Witcher games were drawn from the works of Andrzej Sapkowski? The one thing that we know to be true is that “Both are story-driven RPG games for mature players.” Of note, however, is the fact that the symbol used for this new RPG is a silhouette of a handgun, as opposed to the silhouette of a sword that accompanies its dark fantasy counterpart.

Despite the job descriptions themselves being general enough to avoid giving anything away, the symbol does point to a contemporary setting. The Witcher 2 was one of the best games of last year and its release on the Xbox 360 has been met with critical acclaim as well ; having demonstrated such design acumen on the game, it’s exciting to think where CDProjekt RED might go with a new setting.
