Last night Jimmy Kimmel premiered the first trailer for the Assassin’s Creed movie coming out this December. For the first time we get to see Michael Fassbender in action as he gets plugged into the Animus and transposed into the role of his ancient ancestor. The movie won’t focus on any specific Assassin’s Creed game, so you won’t be seeing Desmond or Ezio, but you will recognize some series staples: Absetergo, the Templars, and the secret order of Assassins among them.
Overall the trailer looks pretty solid, although some of the dialogue does come off a bit campy. The parkour elements and fast-paced combat that make the games so memorable seem to be recreated pretty faithfully here, and we catch a few exciting glimpses of some neat wire-fighting and acrobatics.
