Assassin's Creed Lineage Cinematic Debut Trailer

Assassin's Creed Lineage Cinematic Debut Trailer

None

As you likely already know, Ubisoft has been diligently working on transforming their company into much more than that of a game developer/publisher. At E3 2009, the company detailed the then-recently-formed enterprise: Ubisoft Digital Arts.

Today, the debut trailer for the short film, Assassin’s Creed Lineage, was released. Assassin’s Creed Lineage fills in some of the gaps in the back-story of Assassin’s Creed II. Rather than centering on the exploits of Ezio, as depicted in the game, viewers will follow the acts of his father, Giovanni Auditore da Firenze.

According to an IGN report from David Clayman, Ezio does make “a short cameo in the first segment, but he is young and naive, and not yet an important player in the saga.” Clayman continued by pointing out that “The most noticeable element of the short is how eerily similar everything is to the game. That’s because the environments were rendered directly from the Anvil Engine, the same engine used in both Assassin’s Creed games.”

Pretty neat, though it looks a little B movie-like to me. Regardless, look for the first part of Assassin’s Creed Lineage starting October 27 th , 2009, when it launches exclusively through YouTube.
