Chief Product Officer Leaves Microsoft

Chief Product Officer Leaves Microsoft

It would appear the shakeup of the staff over at Microsoft continues, as yet another high level member of the Xbox team is on his way out.

It was announced via the Xbox Wire that Marc Whitten (who was Chief Product Officer at Xbox) will be taking a position at Sonos, and thus leaving the company. In his statement, Whitten touts his time with the gaming giant and his gratitude at getting to work on such a high profile system. “I have had the extreme pleasure over the last 14 years to work on the greatest product with the greatest team and for the greatest community…. It has been the highlight of my career to work on a product so loved. It’s incredibly tough to leave but I am confident the best days are ahead for Xbox fans, in the capable hands of a very talented team.” Says Whitten.

Several within the Microsoft corporate structure also chimed in on Whitten’s departure. Head Phil Spencer states that he’s “…always led Xbox forward with a focus on our fans and delivering a platform that developers and creators can embrace,” while Corporate VP Yusuf Mehdi called him a “…a great partner for me personally.”

We’ll bring you more on Marc Whitten’s move to Sonos and his new projects on the horizon as they become available.
