Codemasters shined at San Francisco Gamer’s Day 2009. Games including DiRT 2, Fuel, Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, Jumpgate Evolution, and the upcoming Overlord titles were detailed. Below you’ll find the presser that details each game, but here is a rundown of the announced launch windows:
OPERATION FLASHPOINT™: DRAGON RISING
Set to take gamers as close to war as they’ll ever want to get, Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is set on the 220km2 island of Skira, located off the oil-rich eastern coast of Russia, north of Japan. On this immense open-world battlefield players will experience the intensity, diversity and claustrophobia of a present day conflict from the unique perspectives of an infantry marine and a Special Forces officer, each engaged against the full force of the Chinese PLA. As an epic single and multi-player campaign weaves the narrative, the game will give players the freedom to handle military crisis situations on their initiative. DiRT™2
Promising a thrilling off-roading experience with extreme sports attitude, DiRT™ 2 will take players on a World Tour to compete in aggressive race events in the most diverse and challenging real-world environments. Events will include edge-of-control canyon racing of Utah’s “Creek Trailblazer” event, the “Rawang Rally Run” along treacherous Malaysian rainforest tracks and the “Battersea Battle”, where night races are staged at the iconic London power station. The World Tour will take also racers to a massive Los Angeles sports stadium for an exhilarating event: the “Stadium King Shootout”. Located near Marina Del Ray, the LA Stadium will be transformed into an amphitheatre of racing for a fierce rally cross event. Featuring a peerless line-up of super-charged off-road speed machines, DiRT 2 will also come complete with full head-to-head competitive online play. Prepare for mud, gravel, dust and dirt too, this September. FUEL™
Coming this May, FUEL™ is a revolution in multi-terrain action racing set in the largest ever racing environment and featuring more than 100,000 miles (161,000+km) of tarmac, tracks and trails through dramatic and diverse landscapes. FUEL’s world is created from the most compelling, diverse and striking areas of America, from the Utah salt-plains, to the Grand Canyon and the snow-capped Mount Rainier, all modelled from satellite data and rendered beautifully by Asobo Studios’ A.C.E. game engine. Players will explore and race around the remains of devastated towns, cities and villages as the on-going effects of accelerated global warming – from sandstorms, blizzards and brush fires to tsunamis and tornados – create unpredictable and spectacular races. Complete with free roam and a multitude of online multiplayer challenges, FUEL is scheduled to release this May. JUMPGATE EVOLUTION®
Set to deliver exhilarating space combat on a vast scale, Jumpgate Evolution®, the action-based PC Massively Multiplayer Online game from developer NetDevil, is scheduled for take off this June. Offering breath-taking visuals and innovative twitch-based space combat, Jumpgate Evolution will see players joining one of three playable Nations to engage in intense ship-to-ship combat in a persistent online universe.
