The Week in Review news piece summarizes and highlights the most important gaming related news over the past week. This weekly article, in conjunction with the Rumor Round-Up, will keep you plugged in and in-tune.

Pokémon fans got a tasty bit of news this week. A limited edition DS pack was announced for release on Sunday, August 17. The pack features a custom Onyx Nintendo DS with Dialga and Palkia stenciled on to the lid. Also, it includes animated goodies, a carrying case, and a poster.

The Fable 2 achievements list was leaked to the Internets . The 50 entry list can be viewed in its entirety by clicking HERE .

MapleStory , “North America’s most popular free-to-play MMORPG,” gets a massive dose of content. The Crimsonwood Keep expansion includes a brand new storyline, 31 original maps, 11 new enemies, 12 quests, and a host of new weapons and items. Plus, ranked players can win a bunch of prizes.

Developer Crytek announced that on September 12, Crysis Warhead will release in Europe, soon followed by a North American release on September 16. As incentive to preorder, players that take the plunge early will be able to secure the new title at release for $5 off the $29.99 retail price. The Crysis franchise, known for its insane use of computer hardware to reproduce stunning visuals, originally released in 2007. The second edition is actually a standalone expansion with a new single player campaign and various multiplayer online modes including Crysis Wars and 21 maps.

Eidos Interactive and Warner Bros. have announced that a new Batman title, Arkham Asylum, is in development at Rocksteady Studios for the 360, PS3, and PC. The game is scheduled for release next year. Players will take on the role of the Caped Crusader in an action detective game. We can only assume this means puzzles and clues will be every bit as important as combat. This format seems to be quite different than what we expected for the next Batman game, but it could work out nicely, especially considering Batman writer Paul Dini is penning the script.

Capcom has been diligently developing Mega Man 9. This week, the famed publisher sent out a first look at three of the bosses that will featured. The game will eventually release for all major home consoles (360, PS3, and Wii) and marks a return of the series to retro glory. Codemasters announced this week that a sequel to the original Overlord will be making its way to the PS3, 360, PC and that the Wii and DS will be getting their own platform-specific titles in 2009. The official titles include Overlord II, Overlord Dark Legend, and Overlord Minions. Click HERE for all the details.

EA and Epic Games announced on Friday that they will be partnering up on the creation of a new IP. The game will be developed by the Warsaw-based People Can Fly studio. There are no specific details as to title or content, but it’s certainly going to have high production values.

Thanks so much everyone and we will see you next week!
