Cross-Platform Confirmed for Console Diablo III

Cross-Platform Confirmed for Console Diablo III

As detailed via Battle.net on Tuesday, August 5, Blizzard Entertainment has confirmed that the console version of Diablo III will indeed support cross-platform and cross-generational functionality, meaning that you’ll be able to transfer your saved progress of the game from one console to another, regardless if their last- or current-gen.

As of [Tuesday, August 5], ‘cross-brand’ and ‘cross-generational’ transfers have been enabled for Diablo III on supported PlayStation and Xbox platforms, ” Blizzard wrote in its announcement. “ These transfers will allow players to export their save data from Diablo III on the PS3 and Xbox 360 and import it to Ultimate Evil Edition on the PS4 or Xbox One .

Played Diablo III on the PS3, but want to pick up and slay with Ultimate Evil Edition on the Xbox One? No problem! ” Blizzard continued. “ Previously mowed down some demons on the Xbox 360, but are now looking to cull hordes of renegade angels on the PS4? We’ve got you covered. The process of transferring your saved data is simple, and we’ve included a step-by-step guide below to get you started.

Thanks to this, players of the Ultimate Evil Edition of Diablo III: Reaper of Souls will be able to transfer progress from any given console. This functionally is only exclusive to the console version of the game, as transferring data from the PC version of the game to a console is not supported.

Specifically, your game’s data that pertains information about your hero, items and progress will be transferable. Furthermore, pre-order bonuses for the Ultimate Evil Edition will also be able to be transferred, but only if you’re transferring said bonuses to the same brand of console; PlayStation 3 to PlayStation 4, or Xbox 360 to Xbox One. What’s more is that pre-order bonuses from the original Diablo III will not be transferable.

Blizzard also advises you to be cautious when transferring brand-exclusive content to a different console, as it will result in permanently losing access to said exclusive content.

Full instructions on how to transfer between consoles (as well as an extensive FAQ) can be found via the source link below. We’ll bring you more news on cross-platform functionalities should further information reach our ears.
