As reported by VideoGamer , Blizzard Entertainment has announced that Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition is currently being developed for Microsoft’s Xbox One as well as being developed for Sony’s PlayStation 4. However, Blizzard’s caveat is that the studio cannot confirm whether or not the game will actually release on the console.
” I don’t know where we are with Microsoft right now so I can’t really comment on what that contract looks like, ” Diablo III’s lead producer Alex Mayberry explained to VideoGamer. ” The point is we are developing for Xbox [One] and PS4 simultaneously. We hit those major platforms and then our goal as a development team is to make them run. ”
” We have that pipeline worked out, ” Mayberry continued. ” We’ve already done it with the 360 and PS3, so that team knows how to develop at the same time for both of those platforms. That’s just what we do. And then Blizzard and Microsoft can work out whatever they work out. ”
According to VideoGamer, Mayberry says it “makes more sense” for Blizzard to develop Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition for both the Xbox One and and the PlayStation 4 at the same time, even though the studio cannot confirm an actual Xbox One release date as of yet.
Mayberry also teases that the Ultimate Evil Edition is “ not far off… [The console team] work in parallel development with us so they’re not far behind. ”
Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition will include a copy of the original Diablo III and its expansion pack Reaper of Souls . In our Angelo M. D’Argenio’s review of Reaper of Souls , he expressed that the expansion’s story “ feels dreadfully incomplete, ” but it does take you to new and interested places.
