DC Wants to Establish a Marvel-Like Universe

DC Wants to Establish a Marvel-Like Universe

One of Marvel’s strongest suits is there ability to make one film seamlessly leap-frog into another (thus making the characters feel as if they’re all part of the same world). We now learn that this is something DC is also striving to achieve with its future projects.

Writer David Goyer (who is well known for his work on DC films like The Dark Knight Trilogy, Man of Steel and the upcoming Batman/Superman crossover) revealed in a recent interview that the higher-ups at DC have expressed interest in tying together their content in a more uniformed way (especially on both the film and television fronts). “I know that Warner Bros. would love to make their universe more cohesive. There have been a lot of general conversations about that, but it’s really, really early. I’m not sure. Marvel has had enormous success, but I’m not sure that everybody should try to emulate them either. It’s just been vague conversations so far.” He says.

One problem DC may run into in that vein (when compared to their Marvel counterpart) is how thin they have their characters spread around. Aside from the series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. , Marvel typically sticks to the silver screen (thus making it easier to tie one film into the other). With DC trying to juggle both a television presence on the CW and movies, things are obviously a bit more complicated. When asked if a show like The Flash would interfere with the Justice League for example, Goyer said “I don’t think so. You know, Smallville was running while Bryan Singer’s Superman came out, and no one had a heart attack over that. I don’t know.”

May 6 th of 2016 is slated as the next big-screen appearance of both the Bat and the Boy in Blue, as we’ve also recently learned it will go head to head with Marvel’s Captain America 3 .
