Details About Xbox One June System Update Revealed

Microsoft announced some details about the new June Xbox One firmware update today. First on the list of new features is the rumored external hard drive support. You will be able to connect two external hard drives at once, and they must be at least 256 GB large. They also must use USB 3.0… which is going to be a little bit difficult unless your hard drive is brand new, and they have to be properly formatted, which the Xbox One will do for you. Once your hard drive is properly formatted you will be able to move apps, games, add-ons, and basically anything else that you would normally put on your Xbox One hard drive onto your external hard drive.

The other big new feature is “real name support.” Basically, this can allow you to see your friend’s actual real life names rather than their gamer tags on your buddy list. Note that this feature is totally optional. You can choose who sees your real name and for what reason. You can even elect to not give your real name all together.

The final update will be to the SmartGlass app, integrating OneGuide and universal remote control functionality into it. This way, you can fully control your Xbox One and your TV watching experience with your mobile device.
