The developer behind The Darkness 2 , Digital Extremes, has stepped up to the next-gen plate with their a newly announced PS4 title called Warframe . Warframe is a third-person co-op shooter that hit PCs in early 2013, so it’s not too surprising to see the studio make the next-gen leap. However, Digital Extremes has already stated that the new version will be more than a simple port—that the game will be redesigned to make use of the social and community aspects of the PS4.
Echoing the studio’s ambitions, creative director Steve Sinclair recently said: “The fact that we’re developing Warframe for the launch of the PS4 this fall is unbelievably awesome.” He also commented on the irony of that fact that their “original sci-fi concept for this game was the first ever seen footage for the PS3 generation that never came to fruition until now.”
