Disney and Wargaming Bow Out of E3 2016

Disney and Wargaming Bow Out of E3 2016

More big names are out. Following Activision and EA’s lead, both Disney Interactive Studio and Wargaming have also decided to pull out of E3 2016. When it comes to explanations, both companies offered pretty much the exact same reasoning for their decision to skip this year.

Both companies are going to take things directly to the fans instead. Disney mentioned it has fan engagement events planned throughout summer 2016. Wargaming says E3 2016 doesn’t fit its free-to-play, digital only direction, and it too will work on fan events and activities instead.

It makes sense, when you think about it. The Disney E3 booth has focused on Disney Infinity the last few years, and it isn’t like there’s a Disney Infinity 4.0 the company has to promote. Wargaming handles games like World of Warships, World of Tanks , and World of Warplanes . These are free-to-play titles that benefit more from direct player interaction.

But man, is that South Hall at the LA Convention Center going to look empty!
