Disney Delays Disney Infinity

Disney Delays Disney Infinity

Disney Infinity, the Skylanders-like game from Disney that uses adorable figurines, has been delayed. According to MediaDecoder, the game was pushed back from June to August 18 th in North American and August 20 th internationally.

It appears as if the delay is happening primarily for monetary reasons. Retailers were apparently so impressed with Disney Infinity that they wanted to the release date pushed back toward the holiday shopping season.

It’s a brilliant move in terms of competition, however. The release window is smack dab in the middle of the summer slump, when no new video games come out as we all prepare for the holiday season. If Disney Infinity is the only big name game on shelves at that point, gamers will have little else to buy. It also means that Disney will get the jump on Skylanders and their new expansion, which is set to drop later in the fall.

Either way, Disney assures us that this push-back is not due to any glitches or problems with the game. They could launch in June if they wanted to, they just think August is a better business decision on the whole.
