Does a Recent Price Cut Mean Trouble for the Xbox One?

Does a Recent Price Cut Mean Trouble for the Xbox One?

The upcoming (and much anticipated) Titanfall release will receive a special edition Xbox One bundle, which surprised many with its significantly lower price point in the United Kingdom (by almost $50). This has led to speculation that the console may be struggling overseas.

However, Harvey Eagle (who is marketing director for Xbox in the UK) was quick to dispel such rumors, as he states they are doing it simply to generate revenue based on their big new release. “We’re doing this because it will generate sales, absolutely. I think it’s a great deal for people in the UK to get a next-gen machine…including Kinect, including Titanfall, in the box. Yeah, it’s a great deal and hopefully lots of people will take up the offer.” Says Eagle.

As for us State side, don’t expect to cash in on the savings, as he reveals this is UK only pricing (the bundle will retail here for the usual $500). However, as a price cut this early in the launch cycle sends up more than a few red flags for some, Eagle is still adamant that this isn’t a reflection of the consoles success in the market. He maintains that it’s simply their attempt at “…giving UK gamers the best value that we can.”
