As reported by MCV , in terms of amount of consoles sold, Microsoft’s Xbox One has been outselling Sony’s PlayStation 4 for four weeks in a row.
This surge is due the recent release of Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall , which caused Xbox One console sales in the UK to rise by 96 percent since last Saturday, March 15. The Xbox One- Titanfall bundle attributed 70 percent of those sales by the week’s end. The Xbox One’s recent price cut was also a contributing factor.
Microsoft’s Corporate vice president Phil Harrison recently acknowledged the company’s inability to catch up to Sony in terms of current-gen console sales. He remained optimistic however, and compared the company’s situation to a marathon, a marathon where eventually the Xbox One will take the lead of the PlayStation 4.
According to MCV, retailers assure that the PlayStation 4 still remains in control, and that the Xbox One’s recent success was due to shortages of the PlayStation 4. With InFAMOUS: Second Son on the horizon, Sony is said to be preparing to bring in extra stock into the market in time for the game’s release.
