Microsoft Talks Plans For Catching Up to PS4 Sales

For anyone doubting reports of the Xbox One getting clobbered by Sony’s PS4 (by almost a 2:1 margin), don’t take it from me; listen to the words of Microsoft’s own Corporate VP.

Phil Harrison recently acknowledged the company’s inability to catch the PS4 powerhouse in the sales department, but optimistically compared their current standings to a marathon, one they feel will see them gain ground and eventually pull ahead. “We’re 120 days into our platform lifecycle…We’re happy with our plan. We’re happy with the performances of our key franchises and key partnerships, most notably Titanfall in the last couple of weeks…You can see independent surveys and studies showing our sell-through doubling in the UK as far as hardware.” Said Harrison

While Titanfall did give the company a nice little bump recently, the company’s refocus on the indie scene (via their ID@Xbox) is what hopes to fuel the fire of creativity on their console. Harrison touted its importance (as well as the other projects they have coming down the pipe) at this year’s GDC. “We have a fantastic lineup we’ll reveal more of at E3 and beyond…We have a lot of great surprises to come…the ID@Xbox program means that I hope we find really culturally relevant local products and experiences coming to our platform. That will really accelerate us.” He says.
