‘Duty Creator Wants To Recapture By-Gone Era

While many would see later entries in the series as the most influential (with ‘ Modern Warfare 3 shattering records and posting huge sales numbers) those that currently helm Call of Duty want to go in a different direction with Advanced Warfare .

Harkening back to the days of CoD 4 , Glen Schofield (who is co-founder of Sledgehammer Games) said their latest sequel looks to reflect this particular period of the franchise’s history, which he considers one of the biggest milestones. “We looked back at the history of Call of Duty , and I don’t know if you remember when Modern Warfare came out, for those of us in the industry who weren’t at Activision at the time, it really blew us away. To us it really ushered in a new era of Call of Duty . It puts you in the shoes of a Tier 1 soldier, in the Middle East–it was realistic, the sound, the audio, the look of it was just unbelievable. We wanted to try and capture that same feeling in this game.” He said.

Michael Condrey (another co-founder at ‘Sledge) was also on hand and touted the importance of taking the franchise to the next level with Warfare . Suggesting the title will hopefully be something really special, Condrey says the development window “…gave us the time to develop the technology, to focus on the creative, to do the research, to really maximize the experience, and again to push this new generation, to get every last ounce of horsepower out of it, and not to be in any way constrained by tech or in terms of ideas, by the previous generation of hardware.”

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare hits store shelves on November 4 th .
