Call Of Duty Action Adventure Deemed Too “Niche”

Call Of Duty Action Adventure Deemed Too “Niche”

None

Sledgehammer Studios, the brainchild of Michael Condrey and Glen Schofield, formerly of EA, was hard at work developing an action adventure game in the Call of Duty universe. But after the whole West/Zampella Infinity Ward scandal, the guys over at Sledgehammer threw themselves full force at developing Modern Warfare 3.

Well, Modern Warfare 3 is well on track and is going to hit store shelves November 8. So what will Sledgehammer do now? Not the action adventure game, it appears. General manager Glen Schofield said “we’ll probably cancel it” and “I think we will work alone on our next project.” He went on to say that the action adventure game, while cool in its own right and filled with interesting gameplay, was set in a time period that would make it appeal to a “niche” audience, which is not really the audience that Call of Duty is aimed at.

Of course, this wasn’t necessarily a confirmation of the game’s cancellation, but we’re not expecting to see the CoD adventure game any time soon.

So now the question is what will come out next for the Call of Duty franchise? Since Sledgehammer’s turn at the plate has passed, it’s time for Treyarch to take a swing again. Black Ops 2, anyone?
