Activision confirmed today that a new entry in the Call of Duty franchise is in development at Sledgehammer Games – a development studio recently formed by former Visceral Games (formerly known as EA Redwood Shores) executives Glen A. Schofield and Michael Condrey. Interestingly, according to an IGN report, this next CoD will release in 2011 and take the franchise into the action-adventure genre. A 2011 release date should coincide with the next Call of Duty release from Infinity Ward. No other details have been confirmed, but expect Sledgehammer’s CoD to not be a first-person shooter.
