So, Battlefield 4 has finally hit the shelves, and as to be expected, there are a few launch bugs out there that are causing players who want to install the game onto, say, USB drives to have some problems. As well as that, some players are also having problems where they’re trying to play multiplayer, but instead end up getting an infinite loading screen when trying to join a server.
Luckily, EA has put out a couple of posts addressing these issues, and suggests that players should only use their Xbox 360’s hard drive when installing Battlefield 4 , and not any other external storage device. Be it for installing the game’s mandatory 2Gigs of game content, or additionally installing the game’s two discs to your Xbox’s hard drive, EA has stressed that you can only use the Xbox 360’s inherent hard drive when installing Battlefield 4 .
“ The first time you start your game, regardless of which disc you use, you will be asked to perform a required installation of 2 GB worth of game content to your hard drive, ” EA’s post on installation problems read.
“ Note, the above-required and below-additional installations [referring to installing both Battlefield 4 discs to the Xbox 360 in the post] can only be installed on Xbox 360 hard disk drives, and cannot be installed to USB drives, or other alternative storage devices. Battlefield 4 cannot be installed and played on a 4GB internal flash drive.
You will have the option to accept the 2GB install or quit. Quitting will return you to the Xbox dashboard, and you will not be able to play Battlefield 4 . ”
The comapny also suggests installing the 2 gigs of game content first before installing the game to your HDD, should you choose to:
“Note: Be sure you install the mandatory installation content before you try installing each game disc’s content.
- If you do try to install the optional disc-content before the required game data installation, your install will stop before completion, and ask you to install again.
- If your install does fail due to installing content in the incorrect order, your second or subsequent attempts at installing the required content should complete successfully. ”
As for any of you who are experiencing multiplayer issues, EA has released a multiplayer patch update that fixes this issue, and suggests that all players should download the update.
