Entropia Universe Sets New Sales Price Record for Virtual Real Estate

Have you got $100,000 laying around you’d like to burn through? How about $330,000?

That’s how much Entropia Universe MMO community member Buzz “Erik” Lightyear paid for the Crystal Palace Space Station sold at auction. While this seems absolutely asinine to most, it may actually be a decent investment, as Entropia Universe credits (PED) actually convert to real cash.

According to developer MindArk, as reported by Edge, “all Buzz has to do is let the station run, set a good tax rate, keep it stocked with things to hunt, and he can take all the PED he earns and translate it into real money.”

The Crystal Palace Space Station is one of two in the game. Buzz told the games forums, “I was really hoping to win this auction. I believe Crystal Palace can be amazing since it won’t just be owned by some investor, but instead by a very active, and very old player who loves Entropia Universe.”
