“EVE Is Real” Hits The Net

“EVE Is Real” Hits The Net

None

I’ve often wondered how many hours I would spend crying if I played EVE Online. I mean, it’s not uncommon to hear that a player has had all of their hard work destroyed by some thieving space pirate, and I’m just not sure that my fragile ego could take the abuse. However, I’m obviously not cut from the same cloth as most of the EVE Online community. In fact, many players consider the tenuous nature of the universe to be an important facet of the overall gameplay, and it seems that the makers of EVE Online agree.

CCP games recently launched “EVE Is Real,” a website dedicated to sharing the stories that come out of the EVE universe. Players are encouraged upload screenshots and video to the website as well as a memoir of their favorite adventures.

“EVE Is Real” also represents a pretty sly marketing campaign, because it allows potential users to get a feeling for EVE before plopping down any cash. The website is currently running a launch contest to encourage players to start submitting their stories. Between August 18th and September 1st, users will vote on the top 20 images. The winner will receive a brand new EVGA GeForce GTX 460 SE graphics card.

I almost wish I didn’t cry so easily.
